Come with me to celebrate Día de Muertos in Puebla
where giant Catrinas, marigolds, incredible food and a volcano backdrop make for one hell of a way to experience Mexico.
Maybe it’s time to do something epic just for yourself.
I’ve curated four incredible days around one of the most spectacular celebrations in Mexico. Beautiful places. Incredible food. Unforgettable experiences. A gorgeous home base. And all the good stuff I know makes a trip worth getting on a plane for.
You don’t need to know Mexico. You don’t need to know where to go, what to book or how to pull it all together.
I’ve already done that part.
You just need to get yourself to Mexico City.
Come with me. I’ve got the rest.
Four nights in Puebla, during Día de Muertos.
We're staying at a gorgeous 5-star boutique hotel created from two historic 17th-century palaces in the heart of Puebla's pastel-coloured colonial center. Beautiful architecture, beautiful rooms, a rooftop and a pretty spectacular place to call home for the trip.
We'll experience Día de Muertos in Puebla, with the altars, music, food, traditions and celebrations happening throughout the city, with marigolds everywhere.
We'll head to Atlixco for its famous Valle de Catrinas, where giant Catrina figures take over the town. We'll see the incredible flower fields, spectacular floral displays and volcanoes in the distance.
We'll also make pan de muerto, learning how to make this traditional Día de Muertos bread ourselves.
And then there's the food. Puebla is known for some seriously incredible cuisine, so come hungry. Mole, cemitas, tacos and plenty of local goodness along the way.
And we're keeping the group small on purpose.
Enough women to make it fun. Small enough that we can actually get to know each other, laugh a lot, wander without herding a busload of people around and make this feel like a girls' getaway, not a group tour.
This is four days of Mexico, Día de Muertos, incredible food, beautiful places and a really damn good group of women.

I’m still finallizing a few of the experiences and details, so the itinerary will be updated as everything is confirmed.
We’re staying right in the heart of Puebla’s historic centre, in a beautiful hotel housed in 17th-century palaces.
Think soaring ceilings, hand-painted details, gorgeous old architecture, beautiful stained glass, art and a rooftop terrace with views over the city.
There’s also a rooftop pool, jacuzzi, restaurants and bars for when we’re ready to put our feet up.
And the location? Couldn’t be better. We’ll be steps from Puebla’s main square, historic streets, markets and some of the city’s best restaurants.
Choose a private room or a double room when you book.
There will be walking, particularly around Puebla’s historic centre and during our time in Atlixco.
The good news? Puebla in late October is a whole different beast from Tulum or Cancun. It’s cooler and much more comfortable for being out and about, especially in the mornings and evenings.
Comfortable shoes are definitely your friend.
How much walking is involved?
Do I need travel insurance?
What’s the cancellation policy?
Absolutely. You do not need to have a travel buddy to join us. You’ll be part of a small group of women from the moment we meet.
You can choose a shared room or a private room when you book. Shared rooms have two beds and you’ll be paired with another woman in the group. Private rooms are limited.
Absolutely. We’re staying right in the heart of Puebla’s historic district, so you’ll be able to easily step outside and wander, shop, grab a coffee or find a little spot of your own.
Travel insurance isn’t included, but I strongly recommend coverage for trip cancellation, interruption and medical expenses.
Because this trip is happening in just a few weeks, full payment is required at booking and is non-refundable. If you need to cancel, you’re welcome to transfer your spot to another woman, subject to approval and any costs associated with changing the booking.
I’ll send you everything you need to know before the trip, including arrival details and what to expect. You’ll also be added to our private WhatsApp group so we can connect before we go.
Can I come by myself?
How do the rooms work?

I'm Stacey Birch, the woman behind Hot Flashes & Boarding Passes.
Mexico has been my home for six years now, and I love this country and its people dearly. I’ve travelled it extensively, explored far beyond the places most visitors see, and it’s a place I’m incredibly proud to call home.
For years, I’ve had the idea of bringing women here and showing them the Mexico I know and love. It was always something I wanted to do, but somehow I kept finding reasons to put it off.
Then Día de Muertos kept coming back to me.
Experiencing Día de Muertos in Mexico has been a dream of mine for years.
And somehow, even as someone who has built a life around doing things differently and not waiting for permission, I kept saying one day.
Well, this year, at 56, I decided I was done with that.
So I’m going.
And I’d love for you to come with me.
Maybe this is your year to stop saying one day, too.
Four nights. Día de Muertos. Puebla. Atlixco. Incredible food, beautiful places, a small group of women, and a whole lot of Mexico.
I’ve done the planning. I’ve curated the experiences. All you need to do is get yourself to Mexico City.
